3. Van Wilder is essentially the handbook on how to be the biggest PI alive. funny, cocky, smooth, and drives a tricked-out golf cart. honestly, what more does one need?

i just finished The Inigma of Arrival by VS Naipaul, an Trinidadian writer who spent his adult life in England. Today I bought Watermark (about the author's many visits to Venice) by Joseph Brodsky and Sense of Sight (a collection of short stories and essays about... the sense of sight, i guess) by John Berger.

ah-ha
i noticed the cell phone, but certain other elements rang classic 70's like sam jackson's character's haircut and car, etc.i should have thought about the idea of him intentionally mixing eras, because that's totally what he does.
